Peter Chasney Trophy Results

This is a quick and easy competition judged by the members. It is for 5 small photos on a theme of the author’s choice, mounted on a standard 40x50cm competition mount board. The original intention was for 5 standard enprints to be shown.

Members judge the photographs with 3 marks to be given to each under “Unity of Theme” “Presentation” and “Technical” each member also has 1 mark to allocate to their favourite.

The entries are unnamed — each is displayed with simply an identifying letter, and it is sometimes surprising when the entrant is revealed.

Bishop’s Stortford Calendar Competition

We have been contacted by Bishop’s Stortford Tourist Information Centre to help them create a 2013 calendar “Bishop’s Stortford: Sights and Scenes” to promote the town.

The format is a3 folded to a4, with a full bleed picture (printed to the edge of the paper) in the top half, and the calendar in the bottom half, along with picture title & credit, and possibly advertising.  A pinhole will be punched in the top for hanging.  This choice is to simplify postage for those sending the calendar abroad as Christmas etc gifts.

The final picture size is landscape format 3510 x 2480 pixels @ 300 dpi. however much smaller submissions should be e-mailed for selection — 1024 x 724 @ 92 dpi jpg files in sRGB colour space to kim.hollylee at bishopsstortfordtc.gov.uk.

Closing date for submission is August 31st, and provisional selection will be on the morning of Thursday 6th September.  I will be happy to resize photos for members, as will the other “usual suspects” — please get pictures you want resized to me by the end of Bank Holiday Monday

This is a chance for those members who usually only enter DPI competitions to see their work in print.  12 month pictures will be chosen, and possibly a cover photo as well.  All pictures may be overprinted with text as part of the calendar / title, and should not be visibly watermarked.  By entering you agree to the council using selected photos for the calendar without further compensation.

Limit 5 entries per member

Calling all wildlife photographers – call for entries…!

I’m contacting local camera clubs and photographic societies in Hertfordshire to let you know about the wildlife phototography competition we are running here at Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust this Summer. It’s free to enter, there’s a great first prize and the top 12 entries will be featured in next year’s calendar – sales of which will help raise funds to protect wildlife and its habitat.

Closing date for entries is 31 July 2012.

Further details below, so if you could let your members know that would be great – we look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards
